Uranium glass also sometimes referred to as vaseline glass has been around since at least 79AD and became popular in the mid 19th century. Under normal lighting, the uranium glass appears sort of a greenish yellow, but under UV lighting, the glass glows neon green. Given what we know now about the dangers of radiation, it doesn’t seem like a particularly great idea to have glassware colored in the fashion around though the article doesn’t specify just how dangerous the level of radiation exposure is. |

Wow! That looks cool!
Wouldn’t touch it though, much less eat or drink from it.
Glad to see the site back up. Nice generator y’all have there. Well maintained, I hear.

It might not say precisely how much radiation they put off, but it does say that “a great enough quantity will register on a sufficiently sensitive geiger counter above background radiation”. In other words, if you have a lot of it, it will barely register over the radiation you are constantly being bombarded with from space. So yeah, it might be bad to have your entire set of dishes, all the windows in your house, and every other glass surface you can find made of this stuff, but one or two pieces isn’t likely to hurt you :-p
