Bamiyan Laser Project

In 2001 the Taliban ordered the destruction of the 16 centuries old Buddha statues that were carved into the cliffs overlooking Bamiyan Afghanistan (images of the Buddhas pre-destruction can be found here). Japanese artist Hiro Yamagata is working to recreate the Buddhas with lasers and renewable energy. |
