Skype, SMC and Fon have teamed up to create a wireless Skype package for your home. Included is the SMC WXKP100 wireless phone that connects to any 802.11B/G wireless network, the La Fonera wireless router for use and for sharing allowing you access to other Fon routers, 500 SkypeOut minutes and free Skyp Voicemail for twelve months. I am not sure I buy into the concept of the Fon network, I have always been pretty stingy with sharing my bandwith, but the entire package is available on the Skype store for $160 when the SMC phone alone sells for $163 from Beach Audio via Amazon. Adding in the rest of the items in the package, it would cost over $200 sold separately. I think I am going to hold out for the wireless phones to drop a bit more. |
