The MX Air Rechargeable Cordless Air Mouse from Logitech aspires to proved mouse pointer manipulation well in both 2D and 3D. When used on the desk, the mouse acts like most laser input devices. When lifted from the desk, it uses gyroscopic sensors allowing you to control the mouse in the air. This mouse is clearly aimed at media center PC setups given the bevy of buttons it has. The mouse has a small USB dongle which allows for a range of about thirty feet. The mouse only works in Windows XP or Vista. The Logitech MX Air Rechargeable Cordless Air Mouse is available directly from Amazon for $150. |

I like hammers, even though I don’t use them much these days, and I don’t have a problem with wooden block, I used to play with them when I was a little tyke. But I find combining wooden blocks with various phrases silk screened on them and then pounding them with a gavel a bit over the top. This summarizes Slam-A-Gavel rather succinctly. It comes in a 7.25″ x 7.25″ x 2.5″ wooden box with nine wooden cubes each with six potential sources of angst printed on them (this is the full list of the stress words). The box exposes and elevates the center block for you to slam as many times as necessary with the provided gavel. Seems like just a gavel and a smaller wooden block would provide equal stress relief but it seems like the noise might garner some unwanted attention. Must be why those squeezy balls are more popular for stress relief. In any event you can buy Slam-A-Gavel from their store front for $35. |

I am a big fan of multiple monitors. I have four displays where I work and coming home to just my laptop display is tough. Windows users now have a couple of options for adding additional displays via USB 2.0. First up is the TRITTON SEE2 USB 2.0 VGA Adapter which allows for resolutions up to 1600×1200 at 16-bit color or 1152×768 at 32-bit color. You can get the the TRITTON SEE2 from Amazon for $70. There is also the Iogear USB 2.0 External VGA Video Card that can run at 1280×1024 at 24-bit color which you can buy from Amazon for $80. Last there is the USB to DVI Display Adapter at Sewell Direct that can run displays 1280×1024 at 32-bit color thanks to its 128MB of memory. It is available for preorder for $120. |

Forbidden LEGO was written by Ulrik Pilegaard and Mike Dooley who worked on designing advanced Lego sets such as the Mindstorms. The book contains five projects in great detail over the course of 180 pages. The projects require some non-Lego parts as well as some Lego block modification. Pictured to the left is the final result of project number 2 entitled Candy Coated Catapult. The Evil Mad Scientist Review has a link to a video of the device in action. Forbidden LEGO is available in its original paperback form from Amazon for $16. In other Lego news, check out this Lego dragon that was recently completed at Legoland Windsor that is comprised of almost 1 million blocks, is 30ft-long, and weighs 2.7-tons. (Fark Referer) |

Statris is a Flash game where you play Tetris with geographical states and countries. The first time I saw Statetris mentioned, I only fiddled with the USA version where you have to drop the lower 48 states into place. I found playing Tetris with pieces that didn’t have perfectly perpendicular edges frustrating enough that I didn’t mention it. Now they have Statetris for Africa, Europe, France, Netherlands and the UK. Its even more amusing to play when you have no clue where the oddly shaped objects go! Anyway, it took me an abysmal 4:56.3 to complete the United States on medium and 7:09.2 to complete Europe on easy. Feel free to post how badly you beat my times here. |
