Cow Tape Measure The Cow Tape Measure is part of a twenty-seven tape measure collection by Cosa Nova. All of the tape measures in the collection share the same dimensions of 2.125″ x 2.125″ (there was no mention of width) and can measure up to 60″. You can obtain the Cow Tape Measure from Scout’s Swag $6. If curiously shaped tape measures appeal to you, the collection includes a variety of animals as well as some other artistic designs.

Big Spider Web

Filed under: Links, Pets & Animals — roclar @ 5:40 pm
Big Spider Web It seems that Lake Tawakoni State Park located in Wills Point, TX has a new attraction in the form of a 200 yard long spider web. Mike Quinn has compiled some of the discussion of the Southeastern Social Cobweb Spider linked to the picture on the left. Not sure if I should be intrigued or terrified.

CitiKitty, Toilet Trains Your Cat

Filed under: Links, Pets & Animals — roclar @ 6:00 pm
CitiKitty, Toilet Trains Your Cat Seems like there is always a low level interest in toilet training the average house cat to use the toilet. I can understand part of the allure. Scooping cat poop is a nasty, un-fun chore. But I don’t know that I would appreciate going to use the restroom and seeing the feline by-product floating in the toilet. Nor would I want the next Gizmo the flushing cat (Gizmo Flushes YouTube Video). How to Toilet Train Your Cat was linked on digg today which brought the conversation up at lunch. Litter Kwitter was mentioned in the digg thread as a staged system in lieu of cutting up a pan, but $69 seems a little steap for training a cat to use the john. Then I stumbled on CitiKitty which is another toilet seat addition for training the cat to go. You can order CitiKitty directly from its web site for $29.

Kittywalk Systems Closet Sleeper

Filed under: Links, Pets & Animals — roclar @ 6:00 pm
Kittywalk Systems Closet Sleeper If you don’t have the space in your living quarters for the DuoTemp Pet Bed then you could string up the Closet Sleeper. Designed to hang from a closet clothes rail, this bed hangs in the dead space below the shirts but above the shoes. Tragically my tubby felines exceed the meager 15 pound weight limit for this bed. The Closet Sleeper measures 18″ x 18″ x 12″ and sells for $80 directly from Kittywalk Systems or you can get it from Litterboy Pet Products via Amazon for $70.

DuoTemp Pet Bed

Filed under: Links, Pets & Animals — roclar @ 6:00 pm
DuoTemp Pet Bed If you feel that your pet isn’t quite spoiled enough and you have some extra cash laying about, check out this pet bed from Dolce Vita. The DuoTemp Pet Bed features a “safe low-voltage design” and provides heating and cooling so that your favorite animal(s) can rest comfortably. My cats generally seem to find the appropriate temperature for their extensive resting needs be it warm or cool given that the average house has a variety of temperatures from the sunny spot on the carpet to linoleum. It was over a year before one of the cats was even willing to use the no frills bed I got for them so I’d hate to sink real money in one. The DuoTemp Pet Bed is available directly from Dolce Vita at a cost of $250 or you can get it on sale from PetCo online for $225.

Fish n Flush Finally a worthy compliment to the Aquariam Sink! Aqua One’s patented Fish n’ Flush features a 2.2 gallon tank where you can display and house your favorite aquatic friends. The tank is capable of being used for both salt and fresh water fishies. The fish and flush also has a tank to hold the water necessary for flushing, a dual-filter system, two 9″ plants and the other mundane toilet stuffs. The 2.5 gallon Fish n’ Flush Toilet-Tank Aquarium Kit is available on their site for $299.

Hidden Litter Decorative Planters

Filed under: Links, Pets & Animals — roclar @ 6:00 pm
Hidden Litter Decorative Planters I must admit that I don’t particularly enjoy looking at my cat’s litter box. That is why it lives in my laundry room well out of my typical line of sight. Some folks either don’t have that sort of space in an out of the way location or need to have more boxes strategically located for multiple felines. Enter the Hidden Litter box which offers a unique, albeit potentially cost prohibitive solution to exposed cat boxes. Instead of having an every day cat box out in the open, why not just have a cat box out in the open that looks like a potted plant? I guess then the question becomes is the issue the box itself be in the open or the other associated problems with the box itself be it odor, litter being track, etc occurring at the location. In any case, the Hidden Litter Decorative Planters range in price from the $90 Tuscany model to a whopping $700 for the Signature model. You can also get the Tuscany model from Good Pet Stuff via Amazon for $85.

Lucky the Dachshund Accent Lamp

Filed under: Light & Illuminated Objects, Links, Pets & Animals — roclar @ 6:00 pm
Lucky the Dachshund Accent Lamp Continuing from yesterday’s Cat Light, we have Lucky the Dachshund Accent Lamp. This lamp comprises a textured amber glass torso with antiqued brass finish on the head and hindquarters. The lamp is powered by a 74″ cord with an in line switch. Neither the picture or the details note where the cord is attached to the lamp preventing me from further buttressing my plug in arse pet lamp theory. Oh well. Lucky the Dachshund Accent Lamp is available from What on Earth for $50. What on Earth has a wide variety of similar accent lamps ranging from a $10 Firefly Accent Lamp to the $100 Stained Glass Dragon Accent Lamp which also includes a panda, bull skull and a flamingo. I did not realize that bronze and amber animal lighting was in such high demand.

Cat Light

Filed under: Light & Illuminated Objects, Links, Pets & Animals — roclar @ 6:00 pm
Cat Light The Lighthouse Shop is the latest to make a product in the shape of a household pet, in this case a light, and jam a cord where its arse would be and market it. The Cat Light is said to measure 370cm x 313 x 85 which seems rather large considering that it is illuminated by a single 40W lamp. It is constructed out of a flame retardant plastic and when lit, the skeleton of a fish shows like an x-ray. The Cat Light is available in orange and yellow with a white version presently out of stock with a cost of $102. The Lighthouse Shop also makes a Dog Light in green, pink and white for the same price as the cat light and a Sheep Light in plain and “pringle” for $61.
